Five Ways to Fill A PCP Air Rifle

PCP Air rifles offer many advantages, but you need to supply high pressure air for them to operate.

There are Five ways to accomplish this:

Charge them with a handpump

Inexpensive, efficient, especially in low pressure guns or infrequent shooting

Slow, and a lot of physical exertion, eat your Wheaties before this one boys!

Fill your guns from a HPA tank

Easy, rapid fill time, portable, provides a lot of shooting on the fly

Expensive, you need to fill tanks at a dive or PB shop, or buy a compressor

Fill your tanks and/or guns with an HP compressor

Easy, unlimited air, range of price points

Medium fill time, need AC or DC power,

A recent option is an HPA cartridge which is a proprietary method

Effective, easy to use, low startup cost

Economics depend on amount of shooting, linked to specific guns or you can go sorta old school with an integrated pump Not a traditional 8 pumps for one shot, rather 80 pumps then 10 consecutive shots. Inexpensive, effective for lower power guns, Noisy in the field, limited guns to choose from
