Airgun Hunt Anchored a buck with the Hatsan Piledriver .50 caliber big bore
I anchored a buck with the Hatsan Piledriver .50 caliber big bore air rifle. On the last day of my Texas deer hunt with the Hatsan Piledriver rifles, I opted to take the .50 caliber rifle out for a last chance to fill my buck take before heading north. I had to pack up and roll out that night.
In the late afternoon I started the hike to the blind and took a short cut through the brush. As I stepped out of the scrub I spotted a small buck walking down the road, not one I wanted to shoot, but since there was activity, I decided to settle in and see what might happen. Join me on the hunt to see how it turned out!
The rifle used on this outing was the Hatsan Piledriver in .50 caliber, which has become a go-to rifle for big game hunting. The stock is a synthetic bullpup design, with a pistol grip and decidedly tactical look to it. It is a big rig at 46.5” LOA, a 33” barrel and weight well over 10 lb. The .50 caliber is capable of generating over 800 fpe, and I was getting about 770 fpe with my set up. The ammo used was the Hatsan Big Bore Supreme 520 grain hollow point.
